SPCRA: The Society for the prevention of cruelty to robot animals

LONDON | 2019 by DEBUNKcollective

In 2017, SONY released their most advanced robotic dog, AIBO+. At a retail price of $2,899, the robot is engineered to move, bark, and respond like a real dog. Through deep learning, the robots are trained to recognize humans, respond to touch, and express emotions. Is SONY not your breed? Toyota, Boston Dynamics, and Sprint are among the many other competitors in the market of making man’s next best friend.

While these pets are designed to be engaging, many will lose their initial appeal and may end up on the secondary market or, worse, in an e-waste bin. As a response, we have created the SPCRA, a shelter for unwanted robot dogs. Whether they’ve been poorly trained, lack emotion, or are mobility-impaired, these dogs deserve a happy home. Are you willing to take on the challenge of rescuing one of these abandoned pets?
