Deepfake propaganda for social good

Can we use the divisive tools of fake news and deepfake to create positive social and environmental change?

‘Deepfake’ describes a growing group of technologies intended to deceive. Advanced facial recognition and machine learning software are increasingly available to the public via open source platforms, allowing anyone with a bit of patience and a computer to create realistic videos that impersonate others. From face swaps to realistic voice avatars, deepfake challenges our trust in reality and questions whether our words and our faces are ours to control.

‘Deepfake Propaganda for Social Good’ asks whether a technology can be inherently good or evil by inviting the community to engage with these controversial tools and their complex ethical dilemmas.
